Training Workshops

There are two options available to professionals wanting to be trained in the FUN FRIENDS, FRIENDS for Children, or FRIENDS for Youth programs:

Regional Training Workshops
As a professional working with children and/or youth, you can participate in an interactive FRIENDS Group Training workshop over one full day. Completion of the training certifies you to run the FRIENDS program in a group setting for either prevention or treatment. The FRIENDS training is offered to educational, social service, mental health, health and other professionals working with children and youth. The training will be of interest to professionals such as; teachers, guidance counsellors, attendance counsellors, psychologists, social workers, child and youth workers, occupational therapists, and doctors.

Regional trainings are held in selected locations in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. For FRIENDS training dates for 2008, please click here.

Staff In-Service Training
If your school or organization has a group of staff (12 to 25 staff) wanting to be trained in a FRIENDS program, we can send an accredited Friends trainer to you to run a one-day staff in-service. All participants will become fully certified FRIENDS Group Leaders once they have completed the one-day training, enabling them to run the program with children and youth in your school board, community agency, or clinic.

If you are interested in more information about arranging an on-site training, please contact Austin Resilience Development at contactus@friendsrt.com or call 613-692-3764.

Add Your Name to Our Mailing List

If you would like a FRIENDS training in your area, or if you want to ensure that you receive a notice of upcoming FRIENDS regional trainings, please add your name to our interest list.

Here's how: Email us, catherineaustin@friendsrt.com and include your name, agency, and e-mail address. Let us know which FRIENDS training you would like to attend (i.e. FUN FRIENDS, FRIENDS for Children, or FRIENDS for Youth).

When a workshop is scheduled, you will receive an e-mail notification from us. Note that most of our trainings have a local agency host, so consider discussing the possibility of an in-service training with your Professional Development Coordinator.
